Assam man nabbed in Bengaluru for extorting woman

Assam resident arrested in Bengaluru for extortion plot targeting woman

Bengaluru police have apprehended a 26-year-old man, Amir Hussain Faisal, hailing from Assam's Darrang district, for allegedly blackmailing a woman with her intimate photos and demanding sexual favors from her. The accused had been working at a private software company in Bengaluru and had befriended the victim during his tenure there.

According to law enforcement authorities, the accused and the victim became acquainted two years ago and entered into a relationship that lasted about a year-and-a-half. During this period, the accused reportedly recorded their private moments without the victim's consent.

Six months ago, Faisal left his job and returned to Assam, but he allegedly continued to harass the victim. He allegedly contacted her last month, demanding sexual favors. Additionally, the accused created fake Instagram accounts in the victim's name and posted some of her private photos when she declined his requests.

Police action and arrest

The victim, feeling threatened and violated, decided to take action and filed a complaint with the HSR Layout police station. Law enforcement officers swiftly responded to the complaint and initiated an investigation. They located the accused in Chennai, where he was reportedly waiting to meet the victim.
